From Legendary Vendor Partner Sofidel
What do you do about those pesky labor costs that sneak into your budget, like plumbing costs?
One thing you can do is try to reduce them by reducing toilet clogs.
Here are two examples of facilities that started using dissolvable hand towels, for example, to help reduce toilet clogs:
SCHOOL DISTRICT
Fulton County School District operates 106 facilities across 98 schools. Maintaining these schools and facilities can be time-consuming and costly. At the onset of the COVID pandemic, the school system changed from air dryers to paper towel dispensers. While the hand towels helped with hand hygiene, they led to significant toilet clogging and recurring plumbing issues due to students flushing towels down toilets.
“The transition led to severe toilet blockages, causing overflow problems and frequent backups,” said Eric Flint, Coordinator Environmental Services, Fulton County School District. “The constant need for plumbing services also led to significant expenses.”
The ongoing toilet clogs and resulting issues also created unsanitary and foul-smelling bathrooms, posing further challenges for students, faculty and staff.
The school system began using Sofidel Dissolve Tech hand towels (816120), towels that dissolve in under three minutes when flushed in a toilet.
“We conducted three pilots, which yielded great results and positive responses from the schools,” Flint said. "We’ve reduced our back-ups by approximately 80% [in schools using Dissolve Tech],” Flint said. “This has helped us to reduce plumbing and related labor expenses.”
MANUFACTURER
Bard Manufacturing's site was facing persistent and costly plumbing issues due to frequent toilet clogs in their aging facility. The disruptions were not only expensive but also disruptive. Every few weeks, Bard had to spend money to address plumbing backups.
To address these issues, Bard switched to Sofidel's Dissolve Tech towel (816120) and Double Layer bathroom tissue (816150).
"Since switching, we haven't called a plumber," said Shannon Chirico, Fabrication Programmer, Bard Manufacturing. "Our custodian is also happy about not having to deal with the messy clean-ups."
